Indonesia has officially launched a national AI Centre of Excellence to drive digital inclusion and AI sovereignty. The goal is to build sovereign AI infrastructure that empowers startups, enterprises, and government entities through access to high-performance computing and AI agent capabilities.
Indosat’s AI Factory Lintasarta will deploy NVIDIA’s GB200 NVL72 chips. This enables advanced generative AI and high-performance computing (HPC) workloads within the country. The centre structures around six pillars, focusing on ethical AI aligned with local values.
- NVIDIA will contribute through its Inception program, Deep Learning Institute, and AI Technology Centre to support R&D, certification, and startup incubation.
- Cisco will deliver secure infrastructure, including a Sovereign Security Operations Centre (SOC) built with Splunk, offering real-time threat detection and compliance.
- Training ambitions include certifying one million Indonesians in AI and cybersecurity by 2027, with Cisco aiming to upskill 500,000 more by 2030.
This AI Centre of Excellence positions Indonesia as a regional leader in sovereign AI and agent-driven applications. It also aligns with national goals to enhance digital literacy, improve workforce readiness, and foster secure, inclusive technological advancement. The collaborative approach combines cutting-edge infrastructure with public-private partnerships to ensure long-term strategic gains in Indonesia’s digital transformation journey.
